The Brembo brake kit for the STI is a family of Brembo brakes developed for the Japanese market. They share caliper hardware and pads with the Mistubishi Lancer, Nissan 350Z and Infinity. Each car has a unique caliper casting and rotors that are not interchangeable. They all work extremely well. There are three issues STI owners need to be aware of. First, the front caliper is very deep towards the center of the wheel. The inner annular radius of this caliper is very wide. The brakes need an hub shape beyond what is normally available in the aftermarket. Only a handful of current after market wheels fit these brakes. These are listed below. We have limited stock of these wheels, and can special order them for you from Italy as required. Second, the rotors are very expensive and very heavy. When replacing rotors, you will improve the performance of the car by getting lighter weight rotors if they are available. Note the 2005+STI has a new bolt pattern of 114.3x5 while the 2004 uses the old 5x100 standard. Hubs flanges are not interchangeable due to different bearing sizes. For track use a third element enters into the picture. Although the STI brakes are bigger and dissipate heat quicker than the standard WRX brakes, the STI brake pads can be toasted (ruined) just as easily during a heavy track session. Just as you would with the WRX, it is advisable to change to an intermediate or better racing pad when at the track. We offer two different selections. The STI has very good forged wheels in 17x7.5, but for track or winter use owners often need a second set of wheels and tires.
