We have pretty much discontinued Legacy support in order to concentrate on the new WRX. There are simply no aftermarket parts availible at this time. We do offer these comments for owners or perspective owners of the Legacy.

If you are interested in a more nimble Legacy and you want it to handle well, do not get the OUTBACK with its raised suspension, rather get the Legacy GT. Pretty straight forward advice. There is just nothing that can be done to improve the Legacy Outback handing, while there is a spring kit and there will be sport shocks for the standard Legacy next year. Comments below compare the Legacy GT with the Impreza WRX.

The Legacy has much the same driving feel as the Impreza in their stock American forms and it is often the consideration of the additional room that makes one choose the Legacy over the Impreza. Adding better tires, a spring kit and sport shocks to the Legacy does make a very nice driving car. When one begins to consider performance tuning, the difference between the two cars widens very rapidly  In this regard, when trying to make a very special performance car, we simply recommend switching to the Impreza for three reasons.

1) The Impreza has a shorter wheel base and is 200 to an astounding 500 pounds lighter in weight in the Japan bumper, aluminum hood, aluminum control arm, wind-up window, non-A/C versions. A 2600 pound Impreza has a very special feel to it that a 3200 pound Legacy will never obtain. And the WRX, while heavier than the older Impreza, has much more power.

2) There has been so much really successful development of the Impreza that the suspension kits for the car, now particularly the DMS 50mm coil overs, have it ranked as one of the best cars of all time. Just driving the carImpreza with the suspension and brakes setup and 110hp for the last five years has made me a happy camper.

3) The third thing is just the way that all the pieces come together on the Impreza. Every modification refines and focuses the driving qualities of the chassis. This just does not happen with the Legacy
